Cover Types
Book Debts -Cover against loss of money arising from accidental damage or theft of books of account.
Business Interruption - Loss of gross profit and additional costs of working, following loss or damage at the insured premises. Cover will follow the material damage contingencies unless otherwise stated.
Business Travel Insurance- Individual or group travel insurance policies can be arranged providing cover during business journeys abroad which includes medical and legal expenses, personal accident and loss of baggage.
Commercial Legal Expenses - Covers the legal costs which may be incurred in defending or mounting an action relating to your business activities.
Contract Works
Covers the works/temporary works, retained facades, completed private dwelling houses, materials (including free issue), site huts, temporary buildings, contents and materials stored off site for inclusion in contracts or works.
Credit Insurance
Covers loss due to insolvency, or failure to pay accounts owing to default of customers for whom work has been undertaken, or goods supplied on credit terms.
Efficacy / Financial Loss
A standard Public / Products Liability policy covers the Insured's legal liability in the event of accidental personal injury, loss of or damage to property and obstruction, trespass, nuisance or interference with any right of way, air, light or water or other easement. It does not provide cover for pure financial loss. Public Liability policies may be extended to cover liability for financial loss suffered by third parties not dependent upon injury to persons or damage to property. Products Liability policies may be similarly extended to cover financial losses suffered by customers or third parties as a direct consequence of a product 'failing to perform' and is again not dependent upon injury to persons or damage to property.
Employer's Liability
A legal requirement for all companies employing staff. Covers legal liability to pay compensation to employees for bodily injury, illness or disease arising from business activities.
Employment practices liability - EPL
This covers costs and awards in the event of employee tribunals and other litigation and expenses in connection with employee issues. They typically are extensions of Commercial Legal Expenses policies or Directors and Officers/Professional Indemnity Covers.
Engineering
Engineering insurance provides cover against electrical or mechanical breakdown for most machinery, including computers. By law, many items of plant such as boilers, lifts and lifting machinery must be inspected regularly by a qualified person. Insurers can arrange to provide this service.
Fidelity Guarantee
Covers a company against fraud or dishonesty of employees.
Frozen Food
Cover against loss of frozen food in deep-freeze units caused by breakdown or damage to the unit or failure of the electricity supply.
Glass
Cover for the replacement of glass following malicious or accidental damage.
Goods in Transit
Covers loss or damage to goods belonging to the company (or for which they are responsible) whilst in transit.
Group Medical Insurance
Provides employees/principals with access to private medical treatment in the event
of illness.
Group Personal Accident/Sickness
Provides death, injury and disablement benefits for employees/principals following an accident or illness.
Hired In Plant
Provides cover for loss or damage to items of plant hired in by the company.
Increase in cost of working only
The amount payable is limited to the additional expenditure necessarily and reasonably incurred for the sole purpose of avoiding or diminishing the interruption of or interference with the business which but for that expenditure would have taken place during the indemnity period in consequence of the damage. Cover will follow the material damage contingencies unless otherwise stated.
JCT Cover
Bespoke cover arranged dependant upon the Joint Contracts Tribunal (JCT) form of contract/edition used for specific construction contracts.
Loss of Licence
Loss of value in the business in the event of loss of excise licence.
Loss of Rent
Loss of rental income and additional costs of working, following loss or damage at the insured premises. Cover will follow the material damage contingencies unless otherwise stated.
Loss of Revenue
Loss of revenue and additional costs of working, following loss or damage at the insured premises. Cover will follow the material damage contingencies unless otherwise stated.
Material Damage to Property - Buildings and contents can be insured against fire, lightning, explosion of boilers used for domestic purposes with the addition of "special perils" such as explosion, riot, malicious damage, storm, flood, impact by aircraft, road and rail vehicles, escape of water from tanks or pipes and sprinkler leakage."All risks" insurance gives wider cover including any accidental damage or loss not specifically excluded. However "all risks" will not cover wear and tear, electrical or mechanical breakdown and gradual deterioration which will be specifically stated in the policy document.
Money Insurance
Provides cover against loss of money belonging to the company, but excludes losses arising from dishonesty of employees.
Motor Insurance
A legal requirement for companies operating motor vehicles. Covers third party liability arising from operation of a motor vehicle and can be extended to include fire, theft and accidental damage.
Motor Legal Expenses
Covers legal costs incurred in pursuing a third party for "uninsured losses", e.g. policy excess/car hiring charges, following a non-fault motor accident.
Product Recall
Provides cover against the costs incurred in recalling or withdrawing a batch of faulty products.
Products Guarantee
Cover can be purchased to pay costs of replacing/reworking/recovering products that have failed to perform their intended function due to faulty design, manufacture, installation, etc. after handover to the customer. Cover also includes liability arising from advice, design and consultancy, where these services have been provided directly in connection with the supply of products or work of a tangible nature, and where these products have failed.
Products Liability
Covers legal liability for bodily injury, illness or disease or loss or damage to third party property arising from products sold or supplied.
Professional Indemnity
Covers your legal liability to pay compensation for a breach of professional duty in the course of your business activities.
Property Owner's Liability
Covers legal liability to pay compensation for bodily injury, illness or disease, other than to employees, for loss of or damage to third party property arising from ownership of buildings.
Public Liability
Loss of or damage to third party property arising from the business activities at or away from the business premises.
Terrorism cover
will provide cover following physical damage to your property as a result of an act of terrorism
Wrongful Conversion
Provides cover for loss following the purchase of a vehicle from a person who does not legally own it.
